Description

Students will be introduced to works which represent the diverse literature emerging from America since 1900. This survey course will focus on American writers since 1865. Topics include major trends in realism, naturalism, and may be selected from major authors such as Hemingway, Faulkner, Frost, Hughes, Millay, Plath, Ellison, Baldwin, Oates, Angelou, and Roth. Upon successful completion of the course students will understand the significant concepts, contexts movements, figures, and works of American literature in the 20th and 21st century. AML2020 is a writing credit course. Students must earn a minimum grade of C to meet the requirements of the Gordon Rule for writing. AML2020 meets the International/ Intercultural competency requirement.
